Catching up

I have great admiration for those who set themselves the challenge of posting every day and keep to it - I seem to be having difficulties in maintaining any sort of regularity with this blog. A lot has happened this month, so there can be no excuses on the lack of material front.

For the past month or so we have been getting a new kitchen installed. This has involved completely stripping out the old one and putting in new units and appliances. We have also had new flooring in kitchen and living room area, as well as getting our new conservatory tiled.

There has been total upheaval as space is so limited in our  small house. The car has been used as a storage space, so we found ourselves travelling in a mobile cupboard.

Boxes galore have been piled in every available none kitchen/living room space.

The transformation has been well worth the upheaval! The small space we have has been maximised, and now all we need to do is get everything back into its right place.

During the Easter weekend we decided to abandon ship, leave the house in chaos and get away from the muddle and confusion and DUST (that dust seems to be never ending ....)

We stayed near Greystoke Castle (the Greystoke of Tarzan fame). The B&B had been built as a folly and as the owner pointed out, it was like the Tardis in reverse; it looked huge from the outside, but because the walls are a metre thick, it seemed much smaller on the inside. Red squirrels came to the feeders.

Some images from our wandering around during the weekend.

We stopped of at Brougham castle on the way home, and my first experience of a price concession now I am 60, a whole 40p!!

Then it was a trip to see my mother, abandoning Quinn while all the painting was done. The weekend had been organised for some time to be a late celebration of my birthday. My mother was recovering from a badly broken wrist, her plaster had just come off a few days before. Catherine and Elspeth, and my brother all made it for part of the weekend, so a good family time.

Andrew had just got a new DSLR so kindly gave me his old one. So ... a new toy to play with!

More from Warton Crags

As we live in what in Scotland would be termed a butt 'n' benn, the kitchen renovation today has driven me upstairs, (there being nowhere else to sit at the moment). The flooring is being installed as I type, so I have been using the time to play around with pictures I took yesterday on a walk we had to Warton Crags.
